The Russian Caravan

Russian Caravan tea this morning. Its smoky aroma has always conjured an image in my mind of a band of bohemian travellers. A circle of opulently embellished caravans parked up around a camp fire. A old billy brewing over the flames. A dark, starry sky sweeping to the horizon all around and a community of like minded souls singing, dancing, laughing and relaxing before the next leg of their perpetual journey. Turns out the Russian Caravan is really about camels.

My little teacup series is well underway now. There will be ten wee 6x6" sized teacups, and a few more larger ones. I'm looking forward to doing some more work on these this week.

  1. Hi Veronica, my kumara was rather neglected really. I think if I had planted it in an area I had mulched and composted I would have got a much larger yield. As it was I dug over a patch of lawn and shoved the shoots I found at the garden centre in the ground. They need plenty of water through the hot months, especially in the last month as this is when the tubers swell up the most. They need at least 5-6 months in the ground. Hope this is helpful!

I love those caravans.....I could SO easily live in one. I can't find it in my list, but there is a blog about a girl who was living in a caravan in England, living the gypsy life...it was sooo charming. The details were enchanting. I need to find it for you. :p
